Every fall the Ohio State women's hockey team sets goals for its upcoming season. Last year, the goals included hosting the first round of the WCHA playoffs at OSU Ice Rink, advancing to the playoff championships and finishing the season ranked in the Top 10. Check, check and check. Along with achieving all of those goals, the Buckeyes set two program records, totaling 20 overall wins and 30 points in the WCHA standings.

Jackie Barto, the first and only head coach of the Ohio State women's ice hockey team, is in her ninth season at the helm of the Buckeyes. Over the past eight years, she has established OSU as a top university for collegiate women's hockey while competing in the toughest conference in the nation. In the summer of 2007, Barto added another honor to her coaching career as she was selected head coach of the U.S. Women's Select and National Teams for the 2007 Four Nations Cup and 2008 IIHF World Women's Championships.
